PINE KNOB
These photographs were taken at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in the summers of 1978 and 1979 while I was living in Ann Arbor. Pine Knob is the name of a ski resort (actually one small hill) about 50 miles north of Detroit, Michigan. The venue is now called the DTE Energy Music Theatre. I was one of the 2 “house photographers” and we shot the concerts and had full run of the place. The big rock and pop acts on summer tours were stopping by and playing at least one, if not multiple nights of shows. I was amazed by the differences in the crowds depending on who was performing and so I decided to photograph the fans as well.
